What is a Medicaid audit?
A Medicaid audit is the process by which the Agency for Health Care Administration, or AHCA, goes back to check on whether the claims a provider submitted meet all the requirements for payment. Normally, when you submit a Medicaid claim for payment, Medicaid pays it without asking any questions. However, just because they paid it doesn’t mean that the claim is perfectly in order. At the end of the audit, a provider may be asked to repay an overpayment.
